190E Alarm/Remote Central Locking

Hey there...I have a '91 190E (1.8) which has remote central locking via an aftermarket (Piranha) alarm system. The key fob remote has been gradually deteriorating in its effectiveness, replacing the battery has not helped. Does anybody know if I have the option of replacing with a genuine Mercedes fob/key as I fear it is only a matter of time until the remote gives up completely!

Any help/advice appreciated.

Key fob of current MB are not an option... you can't get it for your car. Easiest way is to simply change out the alarm with a new one so you get two new key fobs for he same price as one old one... and you get current high tech alarm features.

Take your car to an independant alarm specialist, they should be able to sort you out with a replacement fob and trouble shoot any problem that may be making the controls less responsive.
