I have a 1979 300cd with an automatic transmission that has a leak where the filler pipe meets the transmission. i have snuged the bolt that couples the pipe to the transmission but was wondering if anybody knows how replace the seal/s or washers. Will i need to drain the trani etc?

thanks

It's a very simple repair. Just place a drain pan under the fill tube and remove the hollow bolt which retains it to the pan. After the tranny fluid drains out, you can replace the two copper sealing washers (get them at the dealer) which go on either side of the fill tube fitting. Re-torque the bolt (don't over tighten it) and refill the tranny (probably about 2-3 quarts). You won't have to add much tranny fluid as most of the transmission fluid is held by the torque converter.
