Anyone seen this? More to the point, anyone know the fix or some possible fixes? The problem started out intermittent, but now it will never start in PARK.

Maybe the neutral safety switch in the transmission is shot. This is supposed to prevent you from accidentally stating the car in drive...
Try turning the key and wiggling the shift lever in park.

PS or just start the car in N :~) Kind of an anti theft feature.
You need shifter rod bushing..
Hmmm ... try putting it in drive and wiggling the key and trying to start it. Try it with your foot on the brake and also off the brake. If it starts in Drive ... WOW !!!! You can then drive into whatever is ahead of you and get involved in some reallllly neato law suits! Or you could take it into the nearest stealership and sign your life over to them and beg them to fix it. You might suggest they read this board for some ideas on how to fix it, of course.
