Poor paintwork and corrosion, the E class of the mid nineties suffered from
poor quality paintwork which allowed most of the body panels to corrode.
Examine the whole car carefully especially door bottoms, the area around the
boot lid lock and front wings (where they meet the bumper). Its a problem
Mercedes admit to and providing the car has a full MB dealer service history
and hasn't been painted before MB may just foot the bill for putting matters
right - they recently footed the bill for my barbors car to have doors,
wings and bootlid replaced and a full respray so he now has what amounts to
a brand new looking car.
