Mercedes Command & 6310i

Hi All,

I recently buy a Mercedes ML. This one comes with the technology pack, including the Mercedes Command System. I've installed a phone system later in the car, with the help of Mercedes in France.

I used a 6310i phone (soft build 5.51) I have bought elsewhere.....

Everything is working quite well ... but one of the problem I have is the following : I see only part of my phone contacts (only the ones that have been stored in the SIM card, the others contacts store in memory cannot be find ....) Some of the menus described in the Command Manual, cannot be reach using the UI.

I test my phone with a Class S car (with a new Command System) : everything seems to work great.

I suspect I have some problem with the soft running on the Command computer. What is your feeling. Do you know how to see what version is running ? How to update the release ?

Thanks for your help Didier

My understanding is that the hands-free system only reads the SIM card, so I am (pleasantly) surprised that you got phone-memory data in the S.

I have the Merc stand-alone hands-free system without COMAND and only SIM data.

A major dealer with a telecoms specialist should be able to answer your question.

I can't remember how to find out the software version on the phone, though I remember seeing it at some stage. A quick glance into the phone instruction manual did not help.

Thanks for your answer .....

Concerning the software release, I'm refering to the software running on the Command (not on the phone). The fact that the new Command running on the Class S is working fine confort me on the fact that the phone is OK in itself.

Concerning the Mercedes staff in France, I guess they are more expert on "car" or "engine" stuff than phone or computer ;-)

I learn reading some Web pages that some upgrade can be done starting with a CD while pressing some key on Command. Don't know if sombebody experience this kind of upgrade ... Just need to figure out what version I run, and the benefit that come with new releases ?

Do you know some Mercedes expert that can answer these points in France or elsewhere ?

This forum is dominated by North Amercans, as you probably noticed, and they have a different car phone system.

Are you in or near a big city? There should be a dealer with a telecoms specialist. If not, you could try calling MB France for directions. What about the dealership on the Champs Elysées? Or is that just a marketing showroom without technical advice?

When I was buying my car (from a dealer in Germany -- Wiesbaden, a fairly small city) I was able to discuss such details with one of the employees. I have not had the need to consult a London (where I live) dealer on such matters, so I don't know how good they are in this.

Also, DC HQ in Stuttgart: +49 711-170.

Finally, there is a Europe-wide freephone number for various services:

00800 1-777 7777. FYI the call centre is located in Maastricht, NL.

It should be listed on your car or, at least, in your manual.

Sorry I am not of much direct help, but I hope the pointer to an MB specialist is of some use.
