replacing E300 battery

I'm thinking of connecting a battery to the terminals under the hood (used for jump starting) to avoid losing any electrical setting. Will this work? TIA, Al

You can use a 9 or 12 volt battery via your cigarette lighter... you just need to make sure the ignition is in accessory position.
