I read that in the USA GSM-compatible phone numbers are rising much faster than CDMA phones', though GSM is still behind at 22 million vs 71 m.
However, major US suppliers (Cingular, AT&T and T-Mobile) are converting their customers and when this is finished the GSM popoulation will reach 55 m.
