Power steering issue resolved.

The power steering on the '05 S went out while driving in town. Parked the car, shut off the motor and let it rest for 30 seconds. Started it up and the power steering was still out. Shut it down and let it sit for 20 minutes. Started it up and it worked.

Contacted dealer who wanted it towed in. Didn't seem surprised. They kept it for 3 days and were able to replicate the problem (motor was bad). Motor and pump are one unit which they replaced under warranty. No arguments. Based on their reaction I think they run into this more often that they admit.

You are so right there grinder, my friend here in Liverpool has exactly the same fault with his Cooper, its going in for warranty repairs next week, Fitzy
