Water Injection

Hey I found a cheap little injector for a water injection system, Try a

0.5mm mig welder tip most have a M5 thread so you can drill them into your manifold and tap them with no problems and they are easily available!

What do you use to preasurist the water? and what sort of atomisation do you get from the tip?

Windscreen washer pump controlled from an oil pressure switch on the manifold and I have connected a solenoid up in line just before the manifold so the vacuum doesn't suck any water in off boost, the tip doesn't atomise the water but I have aimed the jets at the back of the manifold to create a reasonably turbulent flow, it's not state of the art but it does work.

I am running 10psi and the jets stop any pinking and are letting me run about another 10deg of advance which makes a much better engine off boost!

Will start running 50/50 water/methylated spirits soon to see if any more power is possible!

We find if you use a washing machine waste pump and the solonoid inlet valves you get a much better flow of detergent. This has the added effect of cleaning your valves in the rinse cycle. To stop the pinking use "colour run" at a 50 percent mix with methanol although this may discolour the exhaust. this may not suit your application but is ideal for most cc`s above 1330.

Have tried 50/50 water / Methylated spirits (95%ethanol5%methanol) it is awfully cheap and seems to yield whiter whites although the purple dye in the meths does cause some discolouration on the spin cycle......:-)

Intercooler is on the shopping list now!
