1993 eclipse AC problem

Jun 20, 2005 4 Replies

anyone have any AC knowledge? My AC starts out cool but after 45min to hour into a drive it starts blowing hot air. Then I cut the compressor off wait 10 minutes or so and usually it starts blowing cold air again. Any help would be appreciated

What is your real engine temperature? If the engine runs hot, the AC will automatically cut off. Using the AC makes the car run hotter.

what do you mean by real engine temp? my temp needle rarely moves past the 1/4 point, it should be pretty accurate because all the temp sending parts have been replaced

Possibly the evaporator is freezing up, likely cause is a bad expansion valve.

On some AC systems if the high side pressure limit is reached the compressor is turned off. Causes are poor air flow through the condensor, or a bad sensor.
