91 3K GT trans Question...??

Question

I have a '91 gt sl w/ 165000 miles. the syncros in the 5 speed are starting to get rough. I know replacing the gear box is in my future but until then, has anyone ever done the unthinkable and added some "slick 50" or a comprable product to aid in lifer support?

you could use a friction modifier but not slick 50making things "more slippery" will make the situation with your weak syncrosworse. try gm's syncromesh or b&g syncroshift.i believe mitsu dealers have a friction modifier that you can add to helpthis too.

If the Syncromesh doesn't work, next I'd try Redline MTL.  It can suckfor wear, but if a trans is already about done, it's worth a try to getanother 10k of good shifting out of it.  And yeah, don't use Slick 50 orsimilar junk.simplet

Ok,......Any tips on getting the fill plug open??  lol ..not enough room fora breaker bar..and just  six point socket w/ ratchet  won't budge it.??...Ihaven't tried  any "liquid wrench" type lubes yet...but that's my nextstep.. thank goodness I didn't drain it first huh??.."Brad"
