96 Diamante Crankshaft sensor

Am having a problem with low end, engine breaking up, slight backfire, 700 to 2500 rpm. Believe it is due to bad sensor as have replaced many crank sensors on other vehicles acting in similar nature. Any one with info on the subject. It is DOHC. Should I be looking at another sensor. I replaced timing belt @ 5000 miles ago. Plugs, fuel filter, etc, all new. 82,000 on engine. Thanks

I think that year has a cam and crank angle sensor. Did you change wires? If so, check your base timing. If it off, and I believe that year had non-adjustable timing, you probably have skipped a tooth on the belt.

I had a similar problem with my '91 lancer GTI and new plug wires solved that...
