Otherwise, you have to check all the wires in and out your ECM to be sound.

just another thing: ECM condensers are not so tough, so the main trouble on those units is leaking acid from comdensers on the main board. Open the old ECM and check it or make it checked by an electronic shop, they'll clean it and substitute old condensers with new ones, tougher if possible, and check the unit work.
It's a trivial thing, but this is the weaker point in DSM's.
