Hmm I used to have those questions translated for importing parts for the KG these were run past a German speaker and found to be legible but not quite perfect. (In answer to the subject question there are according to the CIA about 82,450,000 Germans most of them will speak German)

Can you dispatch to Great Britain? Können Sie in Großbritannien versenden?

Are you prepared to send it to Great Britain? Werden Sie vorbereitet, es nach Großbritannien zu schicken?

What would the costs of Shiping be in Great Britain? Was würde die Kosten von Shiping in Großbritannien sein?

how should I pay you? wie sollte ich Sie zahlen?

A payment of EUR220 was sent yesterday. Thanks for your patience during the transmission. Eine Zahlung von EUR220 wurde gestern gesendet . Danke für Ihre Geduld während des Getriebes.

Can you forward your bank acount details and IBAN number so that we can make payment. Können Sie Ihre Bankacountdetails und IBAN-Zahl nachschicken, damit wir Zahlung leisten können.

Can you confirm the total cost of the item including shipping to: Können Sie die Gesamtkosten des Einzelteils einschließlich des Versendens zu bestätigen

Also can you forward your bank account details, IBAN number and address. Thank you for your patience. Können Sie Ihre Bankkontodetails, IBAN-Zahl und Adresse auch nachschicken. Danke für Ihre Geduld.

Fantastic. Amazing how german bike bits manage to double in price somewhere on their way here :).

You wouldn't believe the difference in price for a Ghia engine lid in Germany to the UK even with shipping it was about half the price and turned up within a week. (Got the same speedy delivery from Canada, it really shows how bad the UK retail market is)

Shiping?

Whilst trying to speak the language is nice I was once told "why bother" by a german colleague "everyone speaks english".

Normally if you ask a German if they speak english they'll perhaps sheepishly start with "yes a little" then proceed to use better grammar than you do and probably words you're not quite sure the meaning of. "you" here meaning one in general.

Bloody handy to know a bit for ebay.de though. Currently pumping a german for info on how to say "sunroof wind deflector"...

It's free so don't argue about value :)

And it works more or less correctly.

That'll be me then...

First half of the question (assuming it's a part): "Koennten Sie dieses Teil nach England schicken?"

Second half: "Wieviel wuerde der Versand nach England kosten?"

Maybe worth trying asking the question in English anyway, a lot of Germans (at least in the West) speak English. More or less..

Indeed... I distinctly remember being told by a german copper: "Do zey not have red traffic light zin inglant?"

Ah yes, that would be the homegrown dialect then. The main reason I was a tad careful with my statement is that a lot of folks around my age who grew up in the East didn't have English lessons; they learnt Russian instead.

Is Bremen likely to be a largely English-speaking area, then?

Not that it helps me work out my flight booking confirmation...... mind if I forward it on for you to pull out the important things (like check-in times, luggage limits, etc?)

I'd say you'll find enough English-speakers there, yes.

Yeah, why not - replace the whole bollox in front of the '@' with 'timo' so I don't have to monitor yet another mailbox, please.

Generally in Germany the lag between the yellow and red is quite long. Quite long enough to see the yellow and carry on through (so you must have been very naughty :-) ). When I moved back to england I must have gone through quite a number of reds as it seems they want you do do an emergency stop as soon as the yellow appears.
