Got an MR2 question for ya.

Can you get a supercharged Mk1? Saw a nice looking (standard looking but good nick) one today with "Supercharger" written on the back, and also "Twin Cam 16 G". Do the stickers lie, or was there such a beast? Would imagine it would be a right hoot if it did exist!

yes they did and your looking at £3500 for a rough one and anything up to £6k for a minter! jap and us markets only again (like the mkII turbo's) and made roughly 145bhp although with a big pulley kit could hit 160+bhp and the G is for G limited which is what they called the later models in japan for some reason. there was also a super edition which was in mica blue (dark blue to you and me) with recaro seats with capri looking netted headrest and a momo wheel. hard tops are best and were really really light.

fully tuned could make 200bhp not bad for a 1.6 huh

i'd love one but they rust like all other MK1's sadly. a lot of people do a conversion using the supercharged corolla engine.

are good for conversion bits

nerdy s*it over :)

Then you stick on a turbo as well as the supercharger and get 350-400bhp with no turbo lag :-)

it'll probably catch fire mate :)

Cool, sounds pretty sweet! The one i saw was dark blue, so could have been the super-duper jobbie. Nice!

yeah i've never seen a car detonate before lol

0-60mph in around the early to late 5's to with a top end of about 135mph ;)

they arent that quick accel, check ur figures

A MK1 MR2 weighs 950kgs (thats only 200 more than a reliant robin) with a 200BHP Corolla Supercharged (breathed on) engine. I would say 5 sec to 60 was possible with over 200BHP per metric tonne? Wouldn't you?

toyota quoted it as 5.8secs to 60mph IIRC and they quoted top speed as 125mph which has been proven wrong by many SC owners as 125mph was the N/A MR2 and the SC had a slightly different ratio box and could get that bit more out of 5th, although 135mph is pretty much hitting the rev limiter. bit of engine work can see the engine limit raised from 7250rpm to 8250rpm easily also.

seems more likely to be honest

seen that? looks a bit odd

I've been thinking about getting a mk1, what did the welding cost you?

welding was £150 but that painted it up in black as before but really shitly done, even got a bit of pain on the fecking door! still a respray of the body and a couple of new front wings and it would look nice again, was tempted to do it myself but i wanted a turbo :)
