Chipping a MK4 Golf GTi 1.8T

Do a REVO remap, it's free for 16 hours or so and you can then see if you like it, I loved it on my 1.8T Audi but could not justify the £500 price tag, but if you got a spare 500 lying around, try REVO first.

Ohh looking at the prices its now 330 quid plus VAT for the remap on the pre

2000 Golf GTI, get the free one done first, abuse the power for a day or 2 and see for yourself.

Nothing to lose mate !!!

I stuck one in my Corrado but I didn't use the OEM ECU as I couldn't be arsed with the wiring nightmare. Getting 235bhp on the standard KO3s turbo and DTA with virtually no lag.

Yep, got to be worth trying, I understand that Revo maps are a little more edgy

Mmm. Corrado.

What did it cost you, if you don't mind me asking. Did you go with the QPE kit?

Just because it's stainless doesn't mean it has to be loud. Mine isn't much more than the standard one was and you can choose a tailpipe.

Yebbut generally if it's designed to improve flow, it's louder.

Oops just spotted that you are in the south in your first post. JBS is probably a bit out of the way then.

Milltek do a range that are still quite quiet and IIRC they do a fully hidden system for the Golf Mk4 and offer the choice of 1 or 2 silencers and a high flow 300 cell cat.

Cost around £3200 for everything, not bad considering the complete 180bhp engine/gearbox and DTA ECU were 2k on their own. If you were really careful on what you spent and used a Megasquirt ECU I'd expect it could be done for around £1500. Didn't use the QPE kit. I got the DTA ECU, loom, coil pack, MAP sensor and leads as a kit from Stealth Racing.
