Except why it failed an MOT, which is the primary way in which in this country, in our reality, we generally judge whether are at least safe to be driven.
It may not drive perfect with an MOT, but they need to be be able to drive. If the engine is wonky, they are very agricultural compared to modern motors, more like fancy tractors. Parts are cheap too if you know where to look/which clubs to join.
