Er, five grand ? I'd expect quite a few Sierras for that kind of money !

One for Pete M surely. With that on the drive, you could forget Rangies for a little while.
Read the whole thing.
It's a proper XR8 Homologation Special. Not sure if the figure of only
250 being produced is accurate, but the are _very_ rare, especially outside of South Africa.
I did. I already know what an XR8 is.
So you're saying you'd plump down £5K for a V8 Ford Sierra, just because it's _very_ rare ? I certainly wouldn't - at the end of the day, it's still a Ford Sierra !
I wouldn't personally, but it's no more than the going rate for a Cosworth, and it's less common with a big V8 rather than a buzzy little
4-pot.Hello,
Looking closer - I would stay well clear, there are too many bits that don't seem right. Some are not original and how easy is it to fit a V8 into an old XR4 body? Look at all the damage including missing mirror, then look at the gap in the boot lid and body, then the odd lamp covers at the front, also different sized gaps at the front. I am wondering if it is made up from different cars, had a bump at the front drivers side and rear passenger side. For the price, forget it, £500 is more realistic as they don't have any special interest or value.

I'd prefer this, for half the money

That one is quite silly spec, and dirt cheap
IIRC we're talking quad turbo'd. Silly.

To be fair that *seems* to be worth 2.5k of anyones money.

Over here there is one running a worked Supra 2JZGTE motor and quite a few running GTR motors. Good fun in the wet.

Or buy a 1.6 and get Burgerman to advise you on the required mods to fit a rover V8 under the bonnet.
Heh.

Makes much more sense now, it wasn't that difficult after all, was it?

huh? it's an xr8 south african only special
250 made got a proper V8 in it (even though it's a bit weedy as far as 5.0 V8's go)they always fetch around that sort of money, and seeing as it's a club member and there is only one other in the country, it's well worth the asking price for someone who wants a bit of motoring history
and it's not an xr4 body but a 5 door, and the bits that are issing are easily sourced from anywhere if you know where to look

It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember "Pete M" saying something like:
Nice old z. I was supposing the yank iron would affect the handling a bit, but the z's own lump wasn't exactly featherweight.
Not unless your definition of "featherweight" is "weighs a metric shitload" :o)
