Deal is done

Well 2 deals are done actually.

The SD1 was sold today, which is nice. So that's all all the expenditure on the Vitesse covered so far, with a few hundred quid left.

And, against most of you lots advice we've bought a Citroen C1. So screw you :) Having looked at all 3 versions from Pug, Citroen and Toyota the Citroen worked out the cheapest overall. So we wangled everything we could out of the dealer and we should be picking the car up in the week. And I don't care what you miserable lot say, we're very impressed with the car and we're very happy with the deal.

Let the abuse begin.

BTW, anyone want a 106 XSi?

personally i'd of got one a year old or so but well done, your happy screw everyone else and if no one bought new cars there wouldn't be any used ones for all the cheapskates on here would there! persoanlly i'd of gone for the toyota cos it's toyota but all the same shit i guess.

doesn't matter what anyone on here really thinks, plus SteveH was well against the whole new car idea so it must of been the right move, he hated my E36 and he hates my mini so point proven i think! plus you could have done a lot worse, you could of bought a fiat or an alfa!

"Carl Gibbs" gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying:

A friend of mine has a C1 as a "station car" - he's also got a Disco3, an XK8 & a DS. He _loves_ the C1. Swears by it - so much so, he's now on his second, and quite a few of his friends have bought 'em on his recommendation.

Yep all exactly the same underneath, only the aesthetics are different.

We almost went for the Toyota as they matched the Citroen deal we had and the Aygo had the better stereo (6 speakers rather than just 2) and a slightly better warranty. But when questioning the finance deal the interest rate was 12% so although the monthly payment matched Citroen the final payment was £700 more. The decision was only going to be purely a financial one, so the Citroen won.

It makes sense for us, so that's all that matters.

They're bloody good value, and actually quite a giggle to drive (I gave the

107 some abuse last night). Obviously 68bhp is never gonna be quick, but that's not what they're about.

No abuse from here. It does the job for you, so enjoy it! Well done :-)

No ta. Our Xantia has got pretty poorly over the last few days, so today we had to get new transport for the missus to get to work in. We went out with the intention of not spending much, but came home with a T-plate Puma, she just *loves* it. It's a hoot to drive, but it's not my sort of thing at all. Not enough headroom for me, but if that's what she likes, it's her money. She'll be redundant in Feb too, so at least we have one good car. I'll have to wait until I get a job before I splash out on another MX-5

Whatcha mean by slightly better warranty, surely any new car manufacturers warranty is the same, isn't it? I must admit, I'd have been strongly tempted by the better stereo, but I guess, I could take that £700 difference and put my own much better choice of kit into the C1 :-)

You do realise that you've actually spent money doing this don't you? This wasn't the 100% cheapest way of doing it you know, I mean, what the hell did you think you were doing?

:-p

Cool! They do drive really well, especially considering how gay they look hehe :-) I think though, the looks have aged well and I quite like them these days. Which engine is it?

Heh it's a real ladies car :-) It's the 1.7 variable valve timing lump. As you say, it does drive really well. Bought it private from a woman in Ascot who's had it since new. We went and saw a couple of others at dealers before we found it. One dealer started shouting at me when I told him the car he was trying to sell me was filthy inside and when I said I wanted to see a couple more, he shouted "well you can f*ck off then, you won't get another like that for the price".. with other customers on the forecourt!!! As it was, we paid £1400 for a silver T plate with 74k, FSH, just had a cambelt and service, MOT until Sept 09, tax until Jul 09, 2 new pirellis and in pretty mint nick.

The Aygo has 3 year manufacturer warranty but the C1 has 2 year manufacturer warranty plus 1 year dealer warranty. Hopefully it shouldn't pose much of a problem though.

The stereo itself is exactly the same, but we managed to get the extra 2 speakers in the parcel shelf of the C1 as part of the deal, so hopefully that should be a significant improvement over the standard setup, and as good as the Aygo we tried.

Shit. What have I done.

Ah, don't worry about that, it doesn't mean anything at all. Vauxhall do the same, and a mate of mine was claiming for all sorts on his when it was two and a bit years old, including a few things that were 'worn' - but they didn't refuse and say it was fair wear. Didn't seem to matter, and I've known a few people who've bought nearly new cars from Citroen as well, the infamously shit C2 GT, that was in the dealer every month till she chopped it in at 35 months old :-)

underpowered doesn't always mean boring, i thought the mini with 90bhp would be pants but it's still a giggle and i wouldn't say it was slow it's quick enough really. damn i'm getting old!

Yay! Is anyone else thinking that if a few more regulars buy one, we could have ourselves a Top Gearesque game of 5 a side!
