still s**te...
Slightly less bouncy skate-board ride than before, dash slightly less black, solid and fischer price, engines still coarse, still better supermini's about.
Tim..
One overtook us on the A1 on Wednesday. Not convinced about the shape, you can tell its origins at least.
It has always been standard to not have radio controls on the steering wheel. Infact sometimes the standard reason that as standard there wasn't a radio.
Kids these days, you want the world. We used turn a handle to open windows too you know.
Some of us even have to pay good money to get the windowhandles back!
Saw the new 911 GT3 RS yesterday, flaming orange. Yep : with windowhandles, a stitched piece of fabric to pull the door closed, minimalistic interior, bolted-in roll cage, ceramic brakes rotors bigger than the X-mas plates.
I approach the beast, it was standing next to a spanking new 911 Turbo, I approached even further and then... I ran: just glimpsed the price of the brakes.
No: I was there for the Porsche. Next to Porsche dealership is Carglass, I had to pick up one of our Subaru's who got his backwindow smashed by some thieving scum.
2 handheld machines (2.500 Eur ) gone and the rear window (860 Eur). I was in no mood to buy Porsche. Girlfriend didn't like the orange so on that we agreed.Tom De Moor
Eh? Last car I had which didn't have a wheel (or stalk) controlled radio was a Nova SR!
Had this car for a while? SWMBO's '93 Cocacola doesn't have it.
Saying that, it had a tape deck until she made me fit some heap of shit she bought off eBay.
Windows ??? When ahhhh were a lad we just had holes and you were bloody grateful for them, etc, etc.
Wouldn't mind, but it was only the sodding 90's :)
Only my Marea has had wheel / stalk radio controls. They're OK, but they're not a make or break thing in chosing a car.
i don't really care if i have all the new gadgets or not. i just hate pov spec vauxhalls. there exspensive when your getting FA in the extra dept. time you added the bits everyone else is whacking on as standard it costs way more!
i'm not a fan of steering controls. to easily knocked when getting a bit 'keen' with the driving plus the wheels end up being a bit chunky. well they are when vauxhall make them.
Unlike a soft-touch dash and damped coin tray opening mechanism?
Surely the Passat has this?
Surely?
Standard on the SEL, optional on all others.
As it was with the old shape, too.
Not a big deal, 'cos most of my day is spent tuned into R2. So long as the radio mutes when I use the phone, that's all I need.
In some model ranges at least... but not all.
Heh. Yes.
Well, you know, I've found steering wheel telephone / audio controls to be great news. Same too with wheel or stalk mounted cruise control for that matter. The controls I use when I'm at the wheel the most often, I don't have to take a hand away to trigger.
Dad's Prius has it three ways - you can control the ventilation system from the dashboard mounted touch screen, the steering wheel or by voice recognition.
Ach - you need a powered cubbyhole cover you do.
Must have after all it's better equipped than a 3 or a C.
I have a power driver's seat - which is a £HFM paid for option on a 3 or a C unless you spend £H*F*M on a top spec. model.
Oh dear.
Chaps?
Take a step back for a minute, and look at what you're all posting?

Pah! You're just jealous 'cos you have a poverty spec version :-P
I'm not actually - if I was that bothered about the tragic loss of stuff like leccy sunroof, I'd just sell it and buy something that had it?
And come to think of it, the other two have it anyway, but it certainly wasn't why they were bought - it just happened to be there.
What I have spent money on is audio... but I don't feel the need to argue the toss about how good / bad that is compared to anyone elses.
No, FWIW, I just think you're all looking more anal that normal (1), with the current 'but my car has this toy' blah blah bollocks.
(1) Difficult to believe, I know
