BTW, started sanding. Didn't go to well. Everything hunky dory at top and sides, but the bottom edge cracked. I couldn't get as much putty at the back because of the way it is shaped, so it wasn't as strong. Result, pressing down as I sanded, it cracked away. I have some ABS/PVC plumbing pipe solvent weld adhesive. Might try to find what I did with the trimmings, once the water has dried off, and see if I can use them to re-enforce the back before I finish sanding and filling.
