Well, the publicity did me good. I'm just filming some TV ads today actually. Yeah, the Dragons made a mistake, but on the other hand everyone is usually on the show for publicity, not investment. I wasn't really lurking, Google alerts alerted me :) I don't like to post on newsgroups too much as people shout "self-promotion"!
You do all the promotion you like, your crystalised ginger and Turkish delight are excellent.
I have had a look at the beginning of this thread. I will say that no one has ever ordered one of these Civic IMAs from me even after having them on my website for 2 x years. So, they are not too popular with my customers. On the other hand, I have done quite a few Priuses. I have one car available now for immediate delivery (almost): Toyota Prius

Thanks for the kind offer. I tend to be at the bangernomics/no finance=20 type car buyer end of things.=20
But luck with the venture. I'm glad you turned the Dragons down instead=20 of letting them stuff you over. =20

Interesting - I met several other people who had been on the show and who all said basically the same thing - it was more about the experience and the publicity than actually getting a deal. Also learning about the TV-ness of it was quite good - how it's really hot in there and they make you walk up all those stairs to get a sweat on for the cameras. Met the lady who did the fold up cardboard beach/festival 'chairs' among others during a mini-conference at uni (I was at Lincoln studying Entrepreneurship as my speciality in the 3rd year of a business degree in '06).
Good luck for the future :-)
About twenty years ago I had to do that pitch for real. I was one of a group who wanted to buy out a division of a failing company and set up our own business. We watched others making a pitch for venture capital, then I got my go. We won the funding.
Later I was told I won it on just one sentence. "The others here have talked about HiTech, I want to talk about High Profit." Follow the money and you can't go far wrong.
Thanks Dan. I would estimate the DD show was worth =A375k in cash terms FYI.
