Is there some sort of statutory cooling off period for mobile contracts? My bird's just signed a contract in phones for fuckig you and given their pressure sales tactics it's liable to be rather unsavoury.

Standard t&c's should give a 7-day cooling off period. Others offer a 14 or

28 day, but they've at least got to honour a 7-day.

I assume you're referring to the DSR ? Obviously that doesn't apply, as it was bought from a shop.

Consumer Credit Act gives 5 days to cancel (but that doesn't necessarily apply in all cases) but there is no onus on the vendor to provide a cooling off period afaik - although some do obviously.

Don't they always trick you into signing a waiver to the cooling off period anyway?

No, you can't (normally) sign away legal rights - so *if* there was a legal cooling-off period (which there isn't in this case as far as I know) it would still apply regardless of anything written into the contract.
