Volkswagen Passat interior in Easier-to-work-on-than-Peugeot shocker! Well, fixing the Passat leaky door is easier than replacing a 306's leaky heater matrix.

is the bottom of the rear door where water was leaking out from under the door card and into the car when I poured waater onto the outside of the window. Pouring water on the battery did not yeild the same results.

is the inside of the door. There's some sort of soft sealanty stuff which goes round the edge of the metal panel which wasn't working along the bottom edge of the panel on both rear doors. The panel is held on by 6 or 7 10mm headed bolts but holds the window winding mechanism so I never got it fully out of the door for fear of bending some difficult to replace part. You can see where I have very tidily put silicone sealant from B&Q round the bottom edge in an attempt to stop it leaking into the car. I'm going to wait till tomorrow to give it a chance to cure a bit before I test it.

Without trying to sound too boring, I was quite impressed by the construction of the door on this car. All the little things like a counterweighted door locking pin, silicon damped door handles and the soft-touch plastics really add up to make this a cross-country missile of true 'weapon of mass-destruction' proportions.
