trying to squeeze a bit more power out of it(the cost of upgrading to the power i needed was just to expensive-compared to what it would be worth after)so its just to say a big thanks to all that offered advice anyway after much deliberation i have opted for a new build using a BMWK1200RS 130bhp motorcycle engine and rear tyres of 445 x 50 x 15 and a jag v12 back axle anyway a list of parts (inc piccies) are here

nice one fella. Shame you couldn't do something with the old reliant lump though. Would have been quitenice megasquirted through ITBs or running quad bike carbs, or even a small supercharger.

I heard there's a place where you can buy reconed Reliant engines and tuned up a bit ones. Anyone know where it's at ?

I'm thinking of getting one for my Trike

" BORG"

i got my recond unleaded engine from Reliant Centre (Willenhall), 34 Froysell Street, Tel: 01902 601817 or Mob:

07850 233858 / 07985 279313

But they aint cheap (about £500) if you know someone with the ability to do the work it may be cheaper to pay them to rebuild it, as for upgrades (considering a reliant is 38bhp) Mk1 fiesta twin webber carb and a 750 manifiold (although you eill have to make an adpter to vconnect both as the hole in the manifold is to small and will catch the bit at the bottom of the carb that rotates, also the wholes for mounting are in the wrong place)

then it is simple things like replacing manual fuel pump to electric then replacing fan on engine for electric one (i have one here you can have if passing by birmingham) now you can also replace the dizzy with an electronic ignition one off of a (now you will have to check this out as i cannot be certain which one fits straight in, it is something old like a herald or hillman)

Ohh and Nitrous :-)

Reliant made a small number of OHC versions of the 850 - one of them was for sale, brand new, through the owners' club for a thousand quid earlier this year.
