silly question about tarmac rally alloys

Jan 09, 2005 11 Replies

Anyone know of a good site that lists what makers fitted what alloys for tarmac rallies, with pictures, going back over a good few years.

I'm trying to see what would look good on the Celica, before I decide what to finally fit.

Thought the Celica used OZ tarmac alloys? ISTR them being enornomous white things.. Maybe that's the older GT4 though... despite Carlos Sainz winning back to back titles in the car, I can only find one decent pic of a GT4..

Nice... like the one my friend at school when I was about ten years old used to get dropped off/picked up in. His dad ran a local Toyota dealership. I was so jealous!

Lucky sod. My mate's dad just ran a local Shitroen dealer, so we got rides in BX GTis or CX Diesel estates ..

Yep, that is the Sainz version of the one I have, and yep, they should be Oz 5 spokes 16", or Oz gravel 15" (with a bit solid centre and lots of short thin spokes). Been trying to see if Oz do either the replica gravel or tarmac still, but can't find anything.

Only Oz WRC wheel is the Superturismo WRC, which is quite nice, but not quite right.

Seen the Compomotive HT2 and 3 which are similar, but not exact, or the Compomotive TH which is almost the same byt not quite right.

The Team Dynamics Pro Rally 1 is also similar but only in silver and 15"

while the Team Dynamics Monza also looks great in white,

but some places that sell it have "Touring Car" slapped all over it arround the rim, instead of just team dymanics like here. Do quite like the Monza actually.

Looks like an inbred wheel with webbed spokes!

I really think they spoil it with the anodized reddy pink on those rims every time I see them. Reminds me of early 90s Mountainbike accessories. Who was it who did all those? Was it Onza or Trans X or someone?

inclined to agree there.. the Toora Competizone look a bit similar but without the tack:

Just about everyone did spangly anodised, from Ringle, Pace, X-Lite, Ritchey, Onza, to Fred Salmons Fish bits, just about everybody wanted funky colours.

Mainly 5/Multi spokes, and the TH2 and 3 in 17".

Just wanting some ideas of what the 90's tarmac specs looked like.

Unlikley that I'm going to find an OZ Gravel set 17", as the Gravel specs was 15" and the road spec used a different rim in 16" back then. And Oz don't even make the Gravel rim anymore even if I stuck with 15".

Although I do admit I quite like the Rota tarmac and Tarmac II which is available in white I think from

Rota rims are very light and very cool.

Compomotive MO's are fairly similar, as are a couple of their other designs. Take a look.

are the ones that I want, if I can find them, available in a 17" too it appears if a set turn up somewhere.
