What do you guys think of the rover v8?

Small block chevy is a much better V-8. My favorite V-8 is the Lexus one. Only problem is that it is pretty chunky for a 4.0.

I'd guess price might just be an issue. You can pick up a decent Rover V-8 for not a lot.

Import Lexus V-8 ex Japan is about Aus $2000 over here. I would of thought about the same in the UK. Thats about 800 quid.

About 8 times the price of a Rover, then. ;-)

Fair enough. I didn't realise the rovers were so cheap. Do they still leak oil like a seive?

Is this a 'have you stopped beating your wife' question?

Poorly maintained ones will leak usually due to blocked crankcase vents. The other place on high mileage ones is the front crank seal which is easily replaced.

However, most will still go from one oil change to the next without needing oil added.

It's because it's such a strong reliable engine that they're cheap. Apart from replacing the camshaft, which can be done in situ, there's not much else that wears.

Fair enough. Most of the ones I've seen leak like sieves.
