Do you remember the Saab 900. The woman that bought the finished article, from a "specialist" advert, was the wife of the bloke who provided the "pristine" example.

Oh, and it was so mechanically good that it blew it's headgasket within

6 months. BHGs are rare on the good old 900.

Heh, from the 'vette auction, "ITS A GREAT DRIVERS CAR WITH A STORMING 5.7 LITRE V8 WITH OVER 200+ HORSEPOWER ENGINE"

Such many power figures from a 5.7... Hehehe :-)

He also replaced the wheels on that 6 series with TRX items, OK for originality but try finding some tyres....

saw that 900 stripped of it's leather interior on ebay a while back....

Yup, that was the one. StuNut obviously had a better use for the interior.

Should be about 300ish. There is a point to the US detuning of large engines though, the engines last well and bang out decent torque.

I had a '73 Chevrolet Malibu with a 5.7 in. Official figures for it made scary reading;

145 bhp @ 4000 rpm, 255 lb/ft @ 2400 rpm.

Really, really pants.

Changed the cam and the carb, improved the exhaust and swapped the heads for earlier (1970) ones and all of a sudden 300 bhp @ 4800 rpm with 380 lb/ft @

3200 rpm.

Went well and used less fuel..
