You've got to laugh....

I'm desperately trying to remember the name of a pub that has it in good condition. I think that the Red Lion, Stifford's Bridge (A4103) has it. The Nags Head changes it's beer rapidly but also has Hobsons from time to time. Depending on where you are, the home of Hobsons is Kidderminster, so that may be closer to home.

My problem is, I like a beer, and hate spending the night drinking fizzie pop. But one of the club nights I go to regularly, doesn't get busy until after the last train leaves, and where I live we don't get the benefit of the chance to risk your life on a nightbus. So that means driving or paying about £40 for a taxi which is far to easy to do when drunk.

In those situtions passing out drunk in the gutter/random chicks house has always been a favorite of mine. ; )

I still don't understand why you stick around in Manc - you have all the grief of living in a city without any of the advantages (everything on your doorstep, public transport etc). £40 gets you 15 miles in a black cab in the dead of night round here.

Christ £40 here would be get me to town and back twice heh. So about 40 miles...

Yeah, well, waking up in the gutter the next morning is considerably less pleasant when it is +4C and raining. Random chicks seem strangely unreceptive to drunk blokes banging on their doors at 3am. Actually, non-random girlfriends can also be quite unreceptive...

Likely to get you a parking ticket. Equality laws mean they can't discimination against vehicles. Anything overstaying the allowed time gets a fine.

No chance - it's all housing these days. Much more profitable use of land than supermarkets. Tesco did want to develop the old Wimbledon Football ground in Plough Lane, but the council said there were already enough supermarkets. Possibly true - although they are all Sainsbury's, but then there are also already too many houses. ;-)

It's the Tesco Express ones you've got to watch out for. Within a mile of either direction I go out of my road I'll come to one. Within 2 miles there's 4 I know of (maybe more). They're getting worse than Starbucks round here!!

Yes - got one close to here. Use it for petrol and last minute stuff. Can always get parked there.

As I have said before, on the VectraC boards at least, the JTDs are viewed as more problematic than the 2.0 and 2.2DTi Vauxhall lumps.

And as I also mentioned before, the 1.9 120 in the Vectra I briefly had, was a gutless pile of s**te that needed revving to make any progress, and wasn't particularly economical when you weren't caning it.

Yes, the Vectra is a big heavy car, but then so was my 110bhp non PD B5 Passat, and that regularly managed to do over 50mpg, was quite quick and didn't need constant cog swapping either like the Vectra did.

Apart from the fact it expired at the side of the M25 in a cloud of dead engine smoke, I really liked the Nova TD I had for a while - it had obviously been messed around with, but went like stink and was economical too.

I just wish I'd bothered to fit a new rad when I first got it, as it was that letting go which killed off the engine.

my boss had the 120bhp jobby and i drove that and yes it is s**te slow! the new 1.9 150bhp is a LOT better!

It wasn't that slow... but as I said, it needed constant cog swapping... something even the Fabia, with it's massive 1.4 three pot PD lump, doesn't.

No... I bought it at some part ex clearance auction when I was still skirting around doing a bit of horse trading.
