I'm considering a 2001 or so GT, and I noticed the engine is the samesize as the Mach1 engine yet the Mach1 is rated 45HP higher. Why? Isthere any substantive difference, or is this a case of model cripplethat can be easily reversed? (eg, with a chip or something similar.)Thanks for the help- I looked around, but there's a TON of informationout there about these cars and I can't find that particular questionanswered anywhere...Thanks-Jim

The GT is an iron block SOHC and the Mach 1 is an aluminum block DOHC.

If you want to come to my garage in nc and look at an 02 gt, please do,maybe I got the only 02 al. block made but it isn't cast iron.

I had my head way up somewhere it shouldn't have been (maybe Ishould look under the hood more often)

Thge engine in the 03-04 Mach is the same engine as the 01 Cobra. THe main differences are it's not hand built loke the Cobra's and the "Shaker" hood scoop.
