'99 suspension on an '88 Fox 5.0

This newsgroup has a tremendous corporate memory for modifications and I hope to get some input on a project I have started/stopped/started...

There is an IRS rack in my garage which is to go under my '88 LX 5.0.

I figure with some 17 x 8 Volks racing wheels w/ a 50mm offset everything will fit nicely in the rear.

However, in the front the track is 1.5 inches narrower than the IRS track with the same wheels. Not wanting to have different wheels on the front and back again ( as with the R58 and M179 FMS wheels ) it seems that if I use '94 to '04 lower a-arms (M-3075-D) then everything will line up.

The strut top measurements seem to be awfully close to the same (0.5" wider on the '94 than the '88) so that a Steeda CC plate would bring it right in to proper adjustment. It looks like I'd need new steering links and a new front swaybar.

Then with the same wheels as in the back I'd be in business with tires and wheels closer to their former (pre 2300K brake mod) positions.

Does this sound reasonable? Has anyone done or seen this mod?

Thanks in advance.
