cold air + throttle body

Ok... don't start bashing me already, but I was browsing ebay & I know that I shouldn't really take anything they say to mean anything, but I was looking at MAC cold air kits.. and one of 'em said "Add 70mm throttle body for $110 and make your intake complete" or some BS.. but I was wondering... will adding a 70mm throttle body actually help much? For a near-stock 98 GT with a MAC cold air induction kit.. what kinda hp/tq increase am I looking at? Just a rough estimate would be great =).

Mike,

I don't know what the intake opening on a stock '98 GT is, but if you put a larger throttle body onto a stock intake with a smaller opening than the new throttle body, you are getting the same idea as the ricers who put huge tailpipes on their 1.75" exhaust systems. You have a huge intake track, necking down to the smaller intake size. Kinda like most of the roads in Pittsburgh. If you have one lane feeding to a bridge, two lanes crossing the bridge, and then one lane and a traffic light on the other side, what really is the purpose of that second lane?

JS

wondering...

JS (yet again) saves the day. Thx man =).
