Diagnose this problem, please

OK, yesterday I got in the car, started it. When I went to drive, the gas pedal was very tough to push in...there was a lot of resistance. I shut it off, restarted, and it was fine.

Also, now when I floor it, it gradually accelerates, as opposed to where you could feel the kick immediately.

It is an '04, so it couldn't have worn out already!!

You might want to check the throttle cable to make sure it's still in the groove on the plate that attaches it to the TB. I had a similar experience and founf that the cable had gotten out of the groove and was causing some weird throttle response problems. I just plopped it back in the groove and all was fine...

Being an '04, I'd probably just take it back to Ford and tell them to fix the problem before it amplifies. A throttle problem is nothing to play with - imagine it getting stuck on the floor at WOT. Then you have big problems.

if it is a new car?? 04, take it back to the dealer right away.. complaint it the gas pedal sticks to the floor.... that way you set up a sting of complants... if they fix ti then fine, if not then each time you go in they enter into the computer that it was brought in for X and if X is not fixed during the warranty time then you have a complaint that the X was not fixed...so they will overextend the warranty or most of it... so you will not get stuck with the bill.....
