Doable or Royal PIA?

Damn 17-year old cars. The door hinges on my 1993 Cobra driver's door are showing their age. The door squeaks while driving on certain pavement and the door sags a bit. (And the indent went away a couple years ago.) I now want to replace the hinges. Is this a doable project for a guy with some mechanical skills? Or better left to a body shop guy? What's your opinion?

At first, after looking at my 2000 GT I thought the hinges just unbolted, but further searching on the web says the Fox cars use welded door hinges.

Says here you may only need pins & rollers though......

Doesn't seem too difficult. Thanks, Gill!

I replaced the pins on my '89. It really helps to have a good floor jack on a level surface, and an assistant with a steady hand. Probably needs aligned afterward. Doors work fine again.

I have a 93, had the pins replaced, takes two people to do it. It is a little tricky to align it with weight, but should fix your door hang problem,

I had some door hang, my pins were worn some. and that fixed it.

I had a shop do the door pins, as the car was in for other things too.

Squeek is easy, lub the hinges and tangs, and roller,

The hinge on the car side has 3 bolts in it, and a tang that helps slow the door down when fully opening. Both the tangs broke off (about 150k miles). Cannot get the hinge with tang except from a junkyard, and they are 15 years old too.

Looks like the Door side of the hinge is welded.

The door pins are cheap, but you will need a friend to hold the door while you put in the pin.

Let us know how it comes out.

there are some bushings that come with the pins, watch out for which way they go in.
