I frequent the Dodge Dakota forums as well as the Mustangs forums (Mustangswill always be my favorite). I keep reading about these guys driving dodgeDakotas and RAM trucks who are "constantly" beating mustangs in races (onthe track and off). Some of these guys have decent work done to the truck soI can see them possibly beating a stock Mustang. Most of these guys say theyslapped on a K&N and then beat the stangs. I drive my Dakota and I've drivenseveral 5.0s, my Dakota will never beat a maintained V8 mustang.These guys are saying that they basically beat any mustang on the street (Iimagine they are talking the newer 85 and up models).Has anyone here been up against these guys? How it go? Has anyone seen aDodge wil a 4.7L, 5.2L 5.9L, or Hemi race a mustang?I'm just curious,I think these guys are 99.9% full of feces and that thefriend of a friend that they all know is one guy with a seriously modifiedengine (They all seem to claim low 11's high 10's at the track). The Dodge SRT runs 5.0 seconds for 0-60 and under 14 secs for thequarter.Dodge Ram Sport with the 5.7 liter Hemi runs 9.7 0-60Ram Heavy Duty with the 5.9 Liter 8.6 0-60Dodge Dakota R/T 5.9 Liter 7.0 0-60So in answer to your question, only the 2004 Dodge SRT could outrun aMustang GT (both being Stock.) And to be really nice: possibly theDakota R/T driver being excellent, and the GT owner being horrible aDakota with the 5.9 could beat a GT with little to no mods.
