Slightly better, but first-gens were too boxy. Here's a second-gen 4- door:

And the timeless second-gen 2-door:

The second-gen styling was by far one of the best things to have ever come out of Detroit.

Heater issues were usually due to ripped ducts going from the heater boxes to the interior, and the rubber o-rings around the pushrod tubes leaking into the heater boxes. The solution was to replace them with Viton o-rings.

You'd have loved the heater on the 1st gen. It was gasoline powered.

10 seconds after starting the car and turning on the heater you had full heat.

VW Thing has one like that too. Very similar to a Colman heater, but better than sucking air off the exhaust.
