If you have GEICO Insurance

For those that have GEICO insurance and are buying a new vehicle they have a new extended warranty program for new cars. The cost is approximately $5.00 a month and does not seem to be based on the price of the car. It gives you a 7/100,000 bumper-to-bumper warranty with a deductible equal to what ever your comprehensive deductible is.

I asked the insurance-sales monkey why I would a duplicate policy on top of my standard Ford warranty. What they said is that if you have a problem like someone dumping a drink down your dash or crapping in their pants on your new seats, the Ford factory warranty will not cover it and this one will. Hey these are the two examples she gave me. I figured at $60 bucks a year it was a good deal, especially when the factory warranty expires. She also went on that a lot of people will save up a bunch of nit-noid repairs have them all done at once and only have the deductible apply for the one visit.

I don't know if this will be worth it or not, but sounded like to good of a deal to pass up. Oh BTW exactly 6-days after taking delivery of my brand-new F-150 STX Flareside in Bright Red, some idiot woman rear-ended me on my way to work on the sixth day of ownership. Looks to be about 3/4 grand in damage and my back is knocked out of whack as well. That will probably be more expensive to fix as I can't be thrown on a frame straightening machine. There is also a fight brewing with the insurance company over getting my Truck fixed. I want all new parts as the truck didn't even have 200 miles on it yet. I don't want anything banged out, I want all brand new Ford OEM parts.

My Experience with Geico:

Pro's :

  1. They've beat everyone else price out there for my 2001 mustang, and
2 other cars.
  1. Unlike my X-Allstate Agent who told me that he gives me more one on one service then Geico could ever give me, which I replied "You want me to pay you to be my friend?"

Con's:

  1. I had a accident with my mustang which someone ran a stop sign and I t-boned his truck nothing major just the plastic bumper fell off. Both that driver and I had Geico, and Geico wanted me to pay my deductible, which they stated I would never see back since it was 'No Fault' when it was obvious it was his fault. Not until I had a lawyer call Geico claims did Geico decide to wave my deductible, and paid for the whole thing. It's been about 2 years now since that happened and my rates keep dropping, so yup I'm saving money and Geico didn't raise my rates because of the accident.

Conclusion (My Opinion):

- If you want to pay low rates, then Geico is the best to go

- If you don't mind stress while battling a claims rep then Geico is great, just remember any insurance company is out to make money so if you get in a situation like mine where both cars in the accident have the same insurance, be prepaired to fight it out with Geico's claims department, or end up paying more then you need expecially if it's not your fault in the first place..

Good Luck! - Still with Geico and cringe if I ever have another accident.

I've had them for about 28 years now. Never had a lick of trouble ever.

Hrm, when my car was stolen last year they gave me a rental even though I had declined it on my policy. They were great, they fixed the car right up once it was found. (I traded it in soon after though)

A bit on an tangent, if someone hits you on a parking lot, is that considered a collision or what?

I heard about there so called discounts and gaurantees. When I called for quote I blew there mind with what I was paying elsewhere and basically called me a liar. Well Call One Stop InSurance Get quote for Victoria Ins. 1-866-909-1234 Ask for Scott and tell him Roger sent ya. Ill bet any money it will be alot cheaper than Geico along with Hartford and so on!!!!

Yes, but if the other drive leaves you can claim (hit and run) you are out of pocket by your comprehensive deductible.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give him a ring as policy is now about to a little shy of four grand a year on four Y2K vehicles and a `99 Harley. I could use a break.

I tried Progressive and they were way higher then Geico.
