I totally agree...except that I know the distinction. I'm here because he doesn't, and because he has been harassing other Newsgroups for months -- plus he has failed to listen to me. He got caught -- he's been offered the opportunity to walk away scott free from his trolling, but has only gotten deeper into it.
Therefore, does he know the same distinction above as you present it? Have you told him that what applies to me at this Newsgroup applies to him as well? Further, that it applies to him and I at other Newsgroups? Is it fair to the good members of this Newsgroup that his messages and tactics elsewhere, may come home to roost here?
Now, it's fair that you've said what you said to me. Please now say it to him...so that life can be better off for those Newsgroups he's harassing. Then, we can all enjoy a good life here on the internet.
The other Newsgroups want some peace from him. And he's been harassing them for some time. He's been posting under multiple fake IDs, but all with the same M.O. (Motis Operandi). His rants include sexism, racism and attacks on soldiers and veterans, under the guise of being a Conservative. Clearly, he hates Liberals. Machst nichts to me. Even if he didn't hate Liberals, he'd be out trolling because it's a glamorous life to him. He even referred to himself as a "Celebrity Troll." I'm afraid "your boi" is a brick shy of a full load. In other words, he's addicted to trolling.
I only arrived here today, and would like to leave in peace. I'm not interested in pestering you folks...I'm only here for Ralph's "benefit."
You make the call...but like I said, I got better things to do...and that is no joke. I try to be reasonable, and I'm sure you do, too.
I've researched his posts and seen you council him on not responding to trolls that have attacked him. I've seen him lecture others on Civil Rights, while watching him steal the Civil Rights of others with his thousands of wanton and ridiculous posts.
I believe you seriously have no real idea of his outside activities, no fault of your own. And that's perfectly understandable...we all live in our Newsgroups respectively, oblivious to what goes on in others. His cross-posting led me to the other Newsgroups he feels safe at, while trolling outside Newsgroups he violently disagrees with.
In your Newsgroup, he has posted warning signs. For all I know, he and his buddy The White Tornado might still be hassling you. Just the same, I'm not seriously going to research it with all that old information out there on the net, which is much more revealing about him. Guys like Ralph and DP and The White Tornado -- I want to make them your problem to straighten out.
I've seen him do some bragging here. Loves his buddy The White Tornado -- and that guy was here making life rough for you previously.

Kind of worries me though, with his bragging here about being a badass troll, and the admiration he has for The White Tornado, plus sending people to different trolling sites, like "Conversational Terrorism," that he might be getting harbored here.
If he is your friend, his conduct elsewhere should reflect on you. Thus, it goes without saying, he shouldn't be trolling. If he is your friend, you need to look out for him. He's not some stranger to you now. He's not "fake" because he really exists as a person, behind his fake monikers. He's not nameless, he's not faceless. And the internet, unbeknownst to him, is VERY real with real lives on the receiving end of his horrible, inhuman comments.
Another reason to council this guy -- the survival of this Newsgroup. There are folks SO pissed at this guy, if they find he has safe harbor here, they will not let him or you rest. And you have a nice Newsgroup here. You don't have the trolling going on at alt.fan.j-garofalo or alt.fan.julia-roberts -- most of which he has personally caused.
Tell him it's time to walk away from his self-proclaimed "enemies," and just hang with his friends. Advise him strongly as a friend...there ain't no future in trolling. He's 41 years old, for Christ's sake! Smack him upside the head and tell him: "act your age!"
