Thanks! I did do the iTunes dl and then went into 'Add/Remove Programs' to remove iTunes. Quicktime is still there so yeah, seperate programs indeed. Nasty trick by Apple. Snatched the 'Full install' from your link just in case. If you click the top of the two DL links it takes you to the get iTunes/QT page though. The bottom of the two will just get you QT.
And yeah, can't get them run here either...
