Wiring question: '65 convertible

Oct 06, 2003 3 Replies

Hi:

I'm trying to get the heating fan motor to operate in my Mustang (it was inoperable when I acquired the car).

The fan switch has three wires running underneath the console to a hub that has three prongs for these wires. The wires are Red, Blue and Yellow. There is a fourth, separate prong that has no wire attached.

I got hold of a spare heater switch box + the wiring hub that attaches to the fire wall under the console and it predictably has a yellow wire attached to the fourth separate prong, but is severed and does not lead back to the fan switch.

Genius that I am, I took the yellow wire and wrapped it around the fuse in the fuse panel labeled "HEATER" and tried to use the fan and it burned the fuse.

Any suggestions on where to hook up this yellow wire?

Thanks.

Never mind. Found a wiring diagram online and jumped the correct wire at the main disconnect.

Thanks if you were gonna help and thanks anyway.

;^)

well how about letting us all know where you got the diagram online so if someone needs it they can get it???? thanks in advance......

There are quite a few out there, but the best one I found (although it's for a '66, not a '65) is here:
