2002 Nissan Altima/NO HEAT

Nov 27, 2007 6 Replies

The temp gauge registers at halfway (normal), the upper radiator hose is hot and lower hose is cold. I turn the temp up high and turn the fan on high - but only cold air! Any help or suggestions will be most appreciated thanks to this fine group

Could be the coolant control valve - looks like a thermostat.

Replace the Thermostat. The lower radiator hose should be warm compared to the hot upper hose, not cold. Radiators are good, but not that good:)

Why does everyone automatically condemn the t-stat, a plugged radiator could cause the same symptom.

hmmm, something to think about.

my altima was doing the same thing and after spending 175.00 for analysis and troubleshooting at the dealership determined that the temp control gauge that is used to adjust from cold to hot - was stripped. Even though you turned the knob to hot (red) it was still blowing cool air.

You have to take apart the display console and remove the entire component.

It could be that.....
