Murano Add-ons

Interested in a Murano SL --- It comes with 2 side rails for roof rack but dealer says the cross bars are not available since the car is so new. Roof rack is useless with out the add-on accessories - for kayak, bike, and luggage. Same goes for even a trailer hitch - much less a proper tow package. What gives - the car has been out for seven months now --- with 04's on the way! I like it but Toyota is deeply discounting the Highlander ($4k and spl financing) and the



4Runner ($4.5k) --- and these packages are readily available.

Actually found that CarMax (Whitemarsch, MD) has a good selection of Muranos for about $300 under invoice --- and only a $99 processing fee. Guess for towing the towing package at $500 or so is what's needed (knew it had to be more than just the hitch -- most usually include a heavier duty radiator and an oil cooler). Agree that the CVT may prove to be the weak link. Gas mileeage on windo is impressive but prior owners report a dismal 15-18 city and no where near 29 on the highway.
