Re: 98 Pathfinder wheels locked

sounds like you limited slip diff had some problem.

if it is a mechanical limited slip diff, go to a specialise and get them to have a look if it is a viscous limited slip diff, an oil change should fix the problem. No need to worry!

We have a 98 Pathfinder LE (limited slip) with about 77K miles. About a week

ago I was driving it and noticed that the rear wheels squealed while going around a corner. A few days later my wife was driving in the morning when the roads were slippery due to some rain. She felt very uncomfortable saying that the truck was skidding alot more than normal.

They said the tires and alignment were fine but that I needed to take the truck to the dealer because the rear wheels were not moving indepently. He said he tried puting the truck in and out of 4 wheel (both low and high) but it did not help. This guy only charged me $20 for an oil change.

today. They drove it a number of times and could not find anything wrong. They only charged $45 to check it out. I drove the truck and now it seems fine.

problem is now my wife doesn't trust the vehicle, she is afraid the wheels will lock again and be difficult to control.
