The Z vs. the Corvette

The 350Z is not bad as a compact. A frumpy compact.

But it's not a compact, it's a SPORTS CAR. It should look zoomy, not frumpy.

Dont't be fool, Dodge already be owned by German, not American car any more! If you want a car with American badge but German origin, then buy Dodge Viper. Corvette is ture American!

My neighbor has a 69 vette... a friend has a z from the 80s.. the vette rides and handles great, the z is rusting out, all electronics are shot and engine is rough.... he loves his z though...

I don't really know what point you are trying to make. For every one Vette from the 80's I can show you around 100 that are in complete s*it condition.

My point is, it's even harder to find an older Z in good condition, not that hard to find a vette. Much easier and cheaper to restore as well. Zs are nice when new, but thats about it. Don't get me wrong. My Garage has a Lexus and a 4 Runner. Both Japs, and I love em. But for sports car, it will be a vette and for a real truck a ford f150.

If you say so. Apparently you haven't done much frame work on a rusted out 'vette or actually compared parts prices or availability.

How about we inject some accuracy into your post by saying its harder to find *any older vehicle* in good condition. BTW, my girlfriend purchased a 2001 F150 brand new from the dealer in 2001. She did nothing more with this truck than drive to work and to the grocery store. One day, we noticed some smoke from under the hood. Vettes body is fiber glass, doesnt rust. I have not seen a rusted frame - surface rust yes, but thats it...

The frames do rust... I'm going to have to assume you don't live where they salt in the winter.

Yes, the frame rusts, but a frame can survive 20 years minimum. An average older Z can't go 10 years without the body rusting somewhere. Especially the older Zs.

How about injectin accuracy into your statement. I had a Toyota truck that developed a rod knock at 60K miles and broke two teeth on the cluster gear at 32K miles and developed a leak in the clutch master cylinder at 28K and destroyed the harmonic balancer at 20K because the main crank bolt loosened for no apparent reason. It was replaced with a Dodge that never had a repair for 60K miles until it was sold. Keep going, I can come up with a + or - for anything you name...
