Various Ways to Increase HP in a Sentra

I have just bought a 2001 Sentra 1.8L GXE 5-spd. I don't know much abt cars. I want to increase around 20hp and my budged is around $600. Can anyone please suggest a way to do that. It shouldn't damage the engine. I apppreciate all the help.

N/A Inlet kit 3 bhp Exhaust 8 bhp Chip 5 bhp Total = 16bhp a bit short of your target.

Sell it and buy a car with a turbo. Exhaust, inlet kit and dawes device type boost controller will be in budget and yield more than the required gain.

Have you actually dyno tested this stuff or just going by what the preople selling this stuff SAY it will do. 8HP from an exhaust isn't likely to happen.

Do this:

  1. Lighten up - remove all nonessential heavy load. E.g. I removed spare tire, jack, floor mats (replaced with 100% cotton, light), etc. My unit is
2004 and under roadside assistance for 2years/40K miles and I used only 3K, i drive little relying more on mass transit Thats why removing spare was possible

  1. Install aluminum alloy wheels/rims, lightweight. I did all 4 rims for 0, amazing. Most fools pay 00 from dealer, i bought rims with free shipping from discounttiredirect.com for TSW APEX 1565APX404114S76

15X6.5 4-114.3 40HS SPECIFICALLY FOR 2004 NISSAN SENTRA 1.8/2.5/S SEDAN

  1. Drive smart: dont accelerate when approaching intersections and then hard break like so many young idiots do. Do not attempt to ram cars in front of you.

Then you wont need horsepower. It's not horsepower we need, we need lighter cars which accelerate faster not onlky due to more fuel being burned, thats stupide.

Bicycle and subway (train) is my preferenece anyway

I made the car light by removing the spare tyres and all and it feels a little faster. But i need some more power and i found some cheap chips to do it on ebay. Would that work or u have to modify ur engine according to the chip. Also i m looking for a header so is ceramic better ot steel once. Please anyone explain that in detail.thanx

I know little in this respect (chips), but obviously a serious alteration of your engine behavior. Manufacturer could not have predicted customers playing with onboard computer, you might burn more fuel, you might cause extra wear on engine.

Maybe you should buy premium fuel and calm down. This is Sentra, it's not a high-end vehicle, it's an excellemt solution if your objective is economy and I only bought Sentras (THREE TIMES) for city commute. I have Ford Mustang for "horsepower"m not Sentras
