What to do with an old truck?

Hi, I have an 85 Nissan King Cab (which I love), and I have recently been told by the mechanic that there is no way that it can pass the local safety inspection (seems the right rear spring support is too rusty). Anyways looks like it is headed for that great big highway in the sky. Was wondering if anyone has any advice on the best thing to do with the truck that I can no longer drive. Many of the parts in it are almost new and it seems a shame to just get rid of them. Besides that, it runs perfectly fine. I had thought about donating it to the kidney foundation but it seems that they have changed their policy, and now only issue a flat $50 tax receipt regardless of the shape of the vehicle, and I won't even think of parting with my truck for a measly $50 tax receipt, to me that is an insult. Anyways, the amount I actually know about cars is very limited, and I have never know anyone who had to send one to the grave before, so any info you could pass along would be appreciated.

They gave me a receipt for full blue book value on a car that I donated.

I once had an old '78 Corolla that had some significant rust problems. In particular, the portion of frame rusted where the steering boxed bolted on, and was within a few weeks of falling off. For $150 cash, I had a welder weld on a half inch plate. Problem solved, and the car drove for another three years before the frame finally rusted through. So, take it to a welder, and take cash with you.
