Which Nissan 4 cyl kicks butt?

Aug 02, 2003 1 Replies

Up here in upstate NY one of the local race tracks has a stock "4 cylinder truck class". The truck must be a 2WD and essentially stock pickup.

I have been told that the Nissan 4 banger is just eating up the S-10 Chevy

2.5 trucks (even with throttle body engines).

Have any idea what Nissan truck (4 cyl) I should be looking for? Which engine is the hot one, do they have overhead cam or double overhead cam versions?

Thanks in advance

Ed

The FJ24 was a factory special for works rally cars - last used in the late 80's RS240 (S12 notchback). There are rumors that a Nimso kit was available. Supposed to be able to make the FJ20(DE) into something close by using a KA24 crank.

Nissan used to do well in Rallies when the world championship had rounds that just destroyed lesser cars. Winning required a car that could survive miles of pot holed hell, mud and high water. WRC have excluded these events as the cars are too expensive to trash on one race.
