head gasket replacement

Starting a new project on a friends car. We have a 1997 nissan Altima.

2.4lL GXE that needs the head gasket replaced/(head, maybe). Water is pouring out of the tailpipe and it is smoking something fearce. Also when it overheated, the spark plugs melted to the aluminum frame and had to be dug out. The Radiator was recently replaced but when the car fires, if the cap is off or on the radiator fluid starts pouring out of the top of it also. It seems like something is blocking the fluid from going through the entire engine. Has anyone has any similar experience or can provide any guidance on how to fix the problem efficiently? Thanks for the help.

I'd start by getting another engine at the wreckers. That engine sounds like it's in big trouble. It's obviously seriously overheated. The rad cap should be releasing the excess pressure in the cooling system; to the water bottle.
