I heard that 93 Maximas (3.0L) have a factory default which sounds like deiseling. It happens when the car is running it comes up then fades away.
It was explained to me that it's due to the cam or valves or (pushrods/lifters?).
Is this true?

Probably the infamous VTC problem. Nissan never admitted it was a factory defect -- which costs around $1500 to fix.
