help please? After putting a underdrive pully and cold air induction on my maxima it hesitates at reproducaple spots in the rpm's usually aroun 1600 and 25000. Could the crank sensor affect this. Does the lighter fly wheel affect this. I replaced knock sensor as computer had been giving me this code for some time. I also replaced gaskets on valve covers since the problem started because I have had a leaky spark plug gasket in back middle plug hole. By the way found out that factor had seals upside down on one of the covers. Car ran the same after. Sounds like out of time but only at certain idle speeds. After passing the rpm it will again power fine, but occaisionally again will hesitate. Not sure what to check next. Thank you for any help with this issue. greg

I'm not a Maxima owner, but this sounds like a problem with a positional sensor (air flow meter or throttle position sensor). These types of sensors can develop worn or contaminated spots that cause them to fail at certain positions.

First off, what do you think the underdrive pulley and CAI buy you? Maybe 3 or 4 HP at max RPM and you probably lost most of your idle alternator output. What a waste of time and money. Anyway, while you were in there you likely damaged your AFM (oil will trash them) or knocked a connector loose.
